A rose that grows darker as the day goes on. It begins fresh and almost crisp, like a freshly cut apple next to a bunch of rosemary, with a light prickle of pepper. Soon the rose comes in, velvety, with a clove edge that warms it. Oud arrives late, in the drydown, and not all at once: it gradually darkens the rose until it becomes earthy and resinous.
Oud Aquilaria is a floral woody eau de parfum by Oman Luxury, the perfumery house of Oman, created by Dominique Ropion and launched in 2020. The name comes from Aquilaria, the tree from which oud is obtained. Ropion brings together here two materials linked to the Middle East, rose and oud, and opens them with fruit and herbs so that the oud arrives little by little.
It is for anyone curious about oud but who prefers it accompanied: rose and fruit make the perfect entry point. It calls for cold weather and occasions with a certain sense of ceremony: autumn and winter nights or a dinner. Dominique Ropion also signs Velvet Iris from Essential Parfums, where iris takes the place of rose, and within Oman Luxury Paramour leads the rose toward leather and caramel.
