Widian

Widian is a perfumery house from the United Arab Emirates that brings together classic Eastern materials, such as oud, saffron, and incense, with a very European way of composing. Its perfumes are created by perfumers such as Jordi Fernández, Jean-Claude Astier, Philippine Courtière, and Hamid Merati-Kashani, and the ones you have here are 50 ml extraits from three of the house's collections: Sapphire, Velvet, and Gold.

The Sapphire Collection is dedicated to cities. London combines oud, leather, and raspberry; New York is a tobacco with citrus and flowers; and Granada, the freshest of them all, features Mediterranean citrus, peppers, and oakmoss. Liwa, from the Velvet Collection, is inspired by the desert of the same name with jasmine, saffron, and oud. In the Gold Collection are Sahara, a warm saffron with rose and orange blossom, and Samar, spicy and smoky, made for winter nights by the fire.

Where to start with Widian

If you want the house's best-known perfume, start with London. If you like oud with flowers, try Liwa. For daytime and warm weather, Granada is the lightest. And if you're looking for something warm for winter, Sahara or Samar. Each perfume has a 1.5 ml sample so you can try it on the skin first.
