Do you want to know more about this perfume?
Bois Impérial, in its Extrait version, takes this iconic perfume toward its nighttime side. With twice the concentration of the Eau de Parfum, it offers a richer and darker reading of the same idea. It is the essence of power and seduction, and the house describes it as a quintessential version of the original.
The first sensations are vibrant: black pepper and pink pepper build a spicy, sparkling opening that awakens the senses. As that introduction fades, a floral heart is revealed where rose absolute brings an unusual density, creating a rich and multifaceted dimension.
Finally, the perfume evolves into a base in which Atlas cedar blends with fir balsam and Cistus labdanum, which adds that liqueur-like, resinous effect. The trail is woody and balsamic.
Extrait or Eau de Parfum
This sheet is for the Extrait, and the difference from the Bois Impérial Eau de Parfum is not just about intensity: they are two different formulas. The Eau de Parfum opens with Thai basil, grapefruit, and Timut pepper, and its base is Akigalawood, a clean, transparent wood. The Extrait swaps that opening for black and pink pepper, places a rose absolute at the center, and settles into Atlas cedar and labdanum. They share the name and the creator, not the composition.
Olfactory Family
The Extrait moves between woody and amber notes, with a floral nuance that the original does not have. The rose absolute is responsible: in a perfume built on woods, a rose of that density changes the entire character and pushes it into a more classic and more nocturnal territory. The labdanum in the base finishes it off in balsamic form.
How it develops on the skin
When you apply it, the first thing is the pepper: black and dry, with the rose adding a fruity, sharp edge. There is nothing green or citrusy in the opening, which is the most immediate difference from the Eau de Parfum. The heart opens into a dense rose absolute, more classic perfumery than modern wood. And the base is where the name makes sense: dry Atlas cedar, fir balsam with its resinous and almost liqueur-like side, and labdanum adding the amber. Quentin Bisch signs both versions, and you can tell it is the same hand working on two different ideas.
How long does Bois Impérial Extrait last?
Essential Parfums does not give hours. What it states is that it has double the concentration of the Eau de Parfum and that it is darker, richer, and stronger. The house presents it as the quintessence of the original and its nocturnal side, with an intensity it describes as uncommon. One or two sprays are usually enough.
How does it differ from the original Bois Impérial?
In the formula, not just in the concentration. The Eau de Parfum opens with Thai basil, grapefruit, and Timut pepper, and settles into Akigalawood: clean, daytime woods. The Extrait starts with pepper, puts rose at the center, and finishes with cedar and labdanum. And it has double the concentration.
