Kit Perfumes para Otoño

There are perfumes that are out of place in August. Too sweet, too dense, too close. October arrives, the temperature drops, and those same perfumes fall into place: the cold takes away their weight, and your coat keeps them close to the body, which is where they work best.

This kit brings together five of them. Vanilla with tobacco, an oud with rose that speaks of coming home, almond milk with dulce de leche, rum with cocoa and dark chocolate. Three gourmands that are not for children’s snack time and two woody scents that call for a sweater. Try them over several weeks, which is how long autumn takes to settle in, and see which one you still fancy once it really turns cool.

Each 1.5ml sample is 30 sprays: enough to wear each perfume for several days in a row and see how it behaves in the cold, out on the street, and under a coat. Which is where it will spend the next few months.

Vanilla Affair · D'Orsay
An extrait at 35%, created by Nathalie Lorson in 2026. At that concentration, it asks for a light touch: two sprays are enough. It opens with Balkan tobacco, tonka bean and cistus, resinous and with a honeyed edge. The heart is two vanillas, one creamy and the other more raw, almost leathery, and the base settles into patchouli, white musk and amber. Sweet, but not dessert-like. Vanilla for when it starts getting dark at seven.

Nostos · Etat Libre d'Orange
Nostos is the Greek word for return, and the root of «nostalgia»: the pain of not being able to go back. Etat Libre d'Orange doesn’t look to Odysseus, who does end up reaching Ithaca, but to Achilles, who knows he will never return home. It is signed by Jordi Fernández. It opens with incense, mandarin and saffron; the heart is Turkish rose and jasmine over an oud accord; and the base, sandalwood, suede, musk and amber woods. A dark, smoky rose. The scent of coming back, when the holidays are over and something stays there.

Ambre Latte · Essential Parfums
The same perfumer, now in snack-time mode. Essential Parfums signs each fragrance with the name of the person who creates it, and Ambre Latte is by Jordi Fernández, the creator of Nostos. The starting point is an almond milk foam: toasted tonka bean, a creamy dulce de leche, vanilla, benzoin and white musk. Underneath are the three woody, amber molecules Fernández uses as his signature, Ambrofix, Georgywood and Akigalawood, with white sandalwood and in high doses. That is why a perfume that smells like café au lait lasts so long on the skin.

Suma Oriental · Une Nuit Nomade
The name comes from a book: the Suma Oriental by Tomé Pires, a 16th-century Portuguese apothecary who described insular Southeast Asia in detail and, according to the house, wrote down where sandalwood came from: the island of Sumba, in present-day Indonesia. Une Nuit Nomade turns it into a perfume of rum and cocoa over patchouli, with tonka bean, sandalwood, guaiac wood, cashmere wood and musk in the base. The rum fades quickly; what remains is the creamy sandalwood wrapped around patchouli. For long dinners and lingering over dessert.

Dark · Akro
Akro is Olivier Cresp’s brand, co-creator of Angel by Mugler, the 1992 perfume credited with the birth of the modern gourmand, and of his daughter Anaïs. Each fragrance from the house revolves around an addiction: coffee, tobacco, whisky. Dark is dark chocolate. Cocoa powder, bitter chocolate, cinnamon and hazelnut over vanilla. Dry, powdery, more like a bitter bar than a praline. And it is the second cocoa in the kit: if Suma Oriental mixes it with rum, here it stands alone.
